PEDAL THROUGH PANCHKULA IN JUST 5 RUPEES

The Yaana bicycles  in Panchkula are great dose of stress buster and relief.  Local residents have shown a great response towards it and you”ll usually find the station place crowded be it morning or evening.  It was launched by Haryana Chief Minster Manohar Lal Khattar designed by Panchkula Municipal Corporation. There are 20 stations in Panchkula in every sector set up Yanna under the PBS (Public bicycle sharing) system with 240 cycles equipped with GPS tracking system and smart locks. This is something which Chandigarh needs to learn from Panchkula . How it works.                                                                                                                                First you need to download the ‘Yaana’ Smart Bicycle app on your mobile phone, which will ask for details like  name, email ID, mobile number, password and date of birth. Then an OTP would be sent to your number for confirmation.

Next  press the Start ride button, and scan the QR code . The bike has a two QR codes one at the centre of its handle and one below the seat. You can scan either.  Then you will be asked to pay for the ride. There were many options available. I chose to pay for the one time option which requires to pay Rs 150 out of which Rs 100 is a security deposit, which is refunded once you end the ride, while the other 50 goes into our wallet. The ride is Rs 5 for 30 minutes.  Instructions are written on the station as well.

People can even avail membership.  Minimum membership is of Rs 100, which will give  50 rides for 30 minutes each and will be valid for 30 days, while membership for Rs 1,000 is also available which will give  2000 rides for 30 minutes, and will be valid for a year.

There is also a separate section in the app called ‘Help Center ’ where you can chat or call for any query.

General instructions to be kept in mind.

*  Fine would be charged upto Rs 25,000 if the bike is damaged or  found stolen.

* The control room keeps a watch on all bikes through the GPS chips

* The bikes can be picked up  and dropped of at any bike station.

* Timings are 6 am to 8 pm operational for 14 hours.

* If you log in with a code, you will get your first ride free. The MC Commissioner’s code is 17DM65.
