ROSE FESTIVAL 2020

Zakir rose garden, Chandigarh serves as the venue for hosting an annual festival called Rose festival, a major cultural event in Chandigarh. This year, 48th rose festival was started from 28th February and will be ending on 1st march. This is a pure bliss for nature lovers. This event is known by another name also called Festival of gardens.

Every year around 300,000 people come to enjoy the festival. It goes on for three days, and the attendees are from India as well as from foreign countries. The sole purpose behind conducting the event is pulling the audience to visit the place seated in nature’s arms and feel gratitude for the things nature has bestowed us with.

This year’s rose festival’s central theme is dedicated to ‘plastic mukt festival’ means plastic free. This event is not solely for enjoyment purpose but to spread awareness regarding nature like how to preserve it and keep it neat and clean.

The administration of Chandigarh leaves no stone unturned while making arrangements for welcoming the people. The whole place is well decorated with light works, hangings, flowers, sparkles and festivities. As along with it, many other events are also held like cultural activities, fashion show, photography competition, Mr. and miss rose competition, craft exhibition, painting, quiz, rangoli, Antakshari and many more. People also witness the beauty of Chandigarh through helicopter rides.

The event was inaugurated by local member of parliament (MP) Kirron Kher. Cultural performances was held to welcome them. The event was started at sharp 10’o clock.

Consistently for three days in the evening, various singers from Bollywood and pollywog industry are here to entertain the public. On 1st march, the event will end with punjabi musical night by Satinder Sartaj.

The event was not only for enjoyment purpose but the people got many things to learn like say no to plastic, women empowerment, rights of transgenders and many more. The people of Chandigarh will again wait for a year for this beautiful event.
