Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhan

There is no gender of “Love”, as Shaadi ka muhrat nikalta hai, pyaar ka nahi; This dialogue is from Ayushmann Khurrana’s latest movie ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhan’ which hit the theatres on 21st Feb, 2020. Well this was the film which was being awaited by the new generation of India and also the LGBT community of the country. It’s so entertaining how DDLJ’s most remarkable seen is used to legitimise the love the two individuals. The film is set at the time when the Article 377 was yet to be decriminalised. The movie basically aims to take a bold step towards normalising the same sex relationships in the country with the help of comedy and a lot of family drama which a lot of youth might find relatable.

The dialogues are cheesy but evoke much laughter and the cast that delivers them are absolutely brilliant. Ayushmann’s role as Kartik in the movie was a bit filmy and over dramatic and daring in nature which basically portrays the fighting nature of the lover, whereas Jitendra’s role as Aman was totally vertically opposite to that of Kartik. Aman was a bit more serious and poised in life and was afraid of his father’s reaction towards his relationship. Although, they make a good pair and their chemistry is as sweet as it can be. The Movie also reunites the characters of the movie Badhai Ho i.e Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta whose chemistry as husband-wife adds more comedy to the movie. The movie is directed by Hitesh Kawalya and is a sequel to the movie Shubh Mangal Savdhan(2017) which discussed the topic of Erectile Dysfunction in men.

What could have improved the movie according to me???

The movie in no doubt has tried to normalise the topic which most of the people in India hesitate to have a word on. The movie is full of drama, masala, comedy, chemistry, emotions and also with a lot of Humorous dialogues which might hit us hard . The movie achieves its main aim but at some point it might seems to be exaggerated and stretched.

People’s View:

As it was Ayushmann Khurrana’s film so I had to watch that like every of his film with out of the box and unique concept. I like the Idea of the movie and especially the role of Jeetu Bhaiya who is my favourites since I saw him in Kota Factory. Film was one time watch, but I found that some scenes were not put correctly and some were not even required. But all together it was a one time watch family entertainment.

The movie was a must watch and had an out of the box concept. The movie does well to achieve its main aim and normalise same sex relationships. But the 120 min time did not do justice with the characters of the movie and the climax of the movie could have a bot more dramatic and impactful.
